Primary Choices

18Jan09

It’s that time again. We have created another survey. You do not have to log in, you do not have to identify yourself in any way. Just click on the link and vote.

Survey Closed

Results will be published from time to time. We hope that the results of the survey will encourage those who should run for mayor as well as those who should not.

Note: We have not included either Rockii (a cat) or James R. Miron. Neither meets the the basic requirement of being human. In addition, we do not want to waste our current mayor’s time by making him sit at his keyboard and constantly clicking his name.

I am insulted you did not include my pet python as a possible candidate

  2. 2 rocki4mayor

WTF??? You include Wanamaker and not me?!?!?

  3. 3 jezebel282

    Rocki,

Only one catty candidate at a time, please.

    Phyl,

Welcome to the blog. Sadly, although a python or a cat would probably be a better mayor than Jim Miron CT state statutes limit the possible candidates to humans.

No surprizes that this is a Heavily weighted Republican blog.

I am honored to get the same percent as PCS, McNeil, and AMY.
However, I voted voted myself as a control, and it appears we have
28 votes cast, so far, and subject to change.

That is provided a person can vote only once.
A way to circumvent that is to vote from more than one computer.

    No support, so far, for:
    Jim Miron – NOT LISTED
Dom – no surprize the way he has been trashed
    Tom Moore – nice guy
Joe Kubic – OK but a lawyer
Marcia Stewart – wrong side of Town
Mike Henrick – Jim Feehan = No firemen in the voters>
Fredette – wrong side of the tracks

Diane Buda – ZERO SURPRIZE since some of the bloggers are vultures
and parasites, as well as some of their foes, and THEY ALL KNOW IT!

Harkins, Best, and Gavin have the blogger support with Someone ELSE
    – (ANYBODY with a pulse?) – in the Mix!
Florek may have voted for himself, along with his neighbor?
Fahan outed Florek as OnTarget, so we know Esq. F reads the blog!

I know Proto reads the blog, and e did not even get listed as a candid
ATE. No Burturlas either? Or Kelly or Williams or Goodrich?
How quickly they forget …. 🙂

  6. 6 1george1

Good to see ROCKI / SUDDS back.
Sorry about the McNabbs …. home of Rocky Balboa 1 thru 10 …

I am crushed I lost SUDDS support.
Sometimes blogging what one believes to be true, can alienate people,
    couldn’t it?

But, at least I have not been a “politician” telling you what you want to read/hear?

At least I tell you things I tell you in advance you won’t like, NOR believe….

At least I am not picking your pocket …..
But then I am not lining your respective pockets either ….

Those like Star, Nnan, and others who are not likely on public sector dole,
from the way they blog are exempted from my criticism, as well as PCS who
1 – Puts her name on her blogs
2 – Made it known about family employment.

While JON and probably GAVIN have FINANCIAL BENEFIT to business and/or
family from political connections, I respect them as people due to:
1 – Puts their name on their blogs.
2 – Actively done tons of UNPAID VOLUNTEER good DEEDS with EMS

    My opinions:
While Florek is a nice jovial guy, I wonder if he actually understands what
    ETHICS is supposed to be?
I wonder about Proto too, as neither are bad people?
No real surprize from Burturla and about Kevin Williams, who appears sneaky.
    Disappointed in Kelly. Very.
Disappointed in Kubic, who I thinks wants to do good things, but …..?
    Disappointed in Jim Miron. Sad!
    August is just another lawyer.
Jen Hilgen left a mixed legacy. I wish her happiness as a mom and in life.
I didn’t really know Foreman, but T-berry is a piece of work.
Disappointed in Blando & Jackson … I guess when one becomes a Lawyer.
    Mixed feelings about Knott.
Ahlberg kinda played the game, but disappeared from official revenue –
    Twardy – Droney – Dooley – O’Connor = all ego-no self respect.

To be a LAWYER & on U. S. government payrole, they must give an ethics/
psyche test as part of the Bar and select those most maleable?

  7. 7 1george1

I like Kent as a person.
I feel sorry about his bar assoc “connections” and purported past acts?

Too bad he and Jimbo, did not choose some different paths …

I am far from perfect, which I know will be one thing bloggers will
    concur with.

I disagree with priorities and positions of many bloggers, especially Jeze,
who is as stubborn as I am. Disagreeing does not make for BAD PEOPLE.

HEALTHY DISAGREEMENTS can lead to better alternatives.

    My local political heroes:
Ed Hargus made huge differences for Seniors
Marcia and Walter are huge on Marshes and Airport
Diane Buda and Eleanor were great for the Tax Payers
Charley, Paul, Ron, Tom & others = major about Raymark.
Ed Goodrich and friends love Shakespeare.
Mihaley big on financial integrity and transparency
Ciecuk reminds us about airport and CT. Constitution values.
Sammis on the FAC and Harbor = great!
And then there are my sources, from within Town / Education employment
as well as dissident Town Committee and Party people …..

There are many past and present Councilors, elected, and even
attorneys who have done good for the town, and everyone’s
definition of good is different. It can make for a “.. more perfect union..”

  8. 8 jezebel282

    George,

“No surprizes that this is a Heavily weighted Republican blog.”

Sorry to disappoint you, but I have been a registered democrat for 37 years now…..

  9. 9 jezebel282

    Editor’s Note:

Tsk, tsk, only one vote please. The voting is filtered to allow one vote per computer. A report is generated providing offender’s IP addresses. Don’t bother voting several times.

It’s not like Dick Miron is in charge of registrations here.

  10. 10 1george1

    Jeze,
Just because you are a registered Democrat, does not mean that MOST
of the BLOGGERS “appear” to be heavliy weighted towards the socalled
Republican party, per the results and most of the blogs.

But then, the sun revolves around Jeze.

No one else is even a “consideration.”

    Even as a participant.

But then, I just can’t wait about the next blog stream about police, fire, or
other manager who fiddled, just like Miron’s people do now, while Stratford
    Tax payers were BURNED.

Looking at AF # 1, with Bush’s last day.
He & CHENEY still has a couple hours to NUKE AFGHANISTAN & PAKISTAN…

  11. 11 jezebel282

    George,

Your implication was that somehow this blog is biased toward one party or another.

“No surprises that this is a Heavily weighted Republican blog.”

Not surprisingly, you do not miss any opportunity to insult.

“But then, the sun revolves around Jeze.”

It is not hard to imagine that given the domination of the DTC by Miron/Buturla/Miller that there are fewer democrats that are willing to admit their affiliation….unless you are speaking about Obama and not Miron.

  12. 12 1george1

Not surprisingly, you do not miss any opportunity to insult.

“But then, the sun revolves around Jeze.”

    Yo Jeze:
    “pot”
    “kettle”
    ” ****** ”

Why don’t you go back and read you comments
    over the last several months.

Jeze, are you capable of posting anything without a
    wisecrack or insult?

Lucy…. Oh Lucy … I don thin sooo!

  14. There was an article a couple weeks ago about Harkins and what a wonderful asset he is as a State Rep. Based on that, while I’d absolutely love to see him run for our next mayor, it would be a major loss to the 120th district.

I, for one, would be 100% behind him should he decide to run and I know several others – both democrat and republican who would too!

  15. 15 1george1

    PCS –
I like Harkins where he is.
Nothing against JOHN as a person, just like JON BEST or even GAVIN.
As a person, I like Tom Moore. I think they are all Town assets, yet I
believe they are “captives” of the political machinations, whether they
    agree or not.

The SILENCE on MANY, certain TOWN ISSUES is DEAFENING!!

PCS & every other Reader …. Do you want more of the SAME?
Do you want people who CONDONE what has happened by SILENCE?

Harkins wrote a very good OP – ED piece about the Democratic legislation
which ENHANCED the ABILITY of INCUMBANTS to STAY in POWER.
    It was excellent.
However, the Democrats have the INCUMBANT EDGE in the State.
Would JOHN write and have that Letter to the Editor if the ROLES REVERSED?

Tom Moore is trying to achieve some things in the FAC and he wants to be
    NON PARTISAN.
Bob Sammis’s comments in Weizel’s article Jan 20th said a lot about the Council
/ Administration, as did details he articulated when he resigned, which also said volumes about the non partisan / partisanship of the FAC.

However, people become captives of their experience, bureaucracy, and
peer group just as George Shultz stated during the Iran Contra Hearings.

Media people point out there is not much difference between many things
that are legal and not legal, just in who benefits.
Media people point out it is stunning what many political people find to be
acceptable in government circles, which are NOT CONDONED in LEGITIMATE
    Public Sector.
(FORTUNE 1000 Corporate deciders are part of Military / Congress Complex)

I note there are 20 % of bloggers for INDEPENDENTS.
    That is encouraging.
If I for Mayor, I am 99 % likely to back out after the Debates,
If Buda runs, I am 99 % likely to support her.
I do NOT see ANY other CANDIDATE I could support, so far.
    Apparently neither do many people.

I note a surge in Tom Moore supporters and all of a sudden, the
number of voter increased by about 85 %, strongly suggesting there
was allowing for double votes by about 23 of the 28 original voters?

I note there are 55 % of bloggers who want Republican Mayor.
    55 % is more than 50 %
Jeze, I guess that qualifies as being Republican weighted.

  16. 16 jezebel282

    George,

“I note there are 55 % of bloggers who want Republican Mayor.
    55 % is more than 50 %
Jeze, I guess that qualifies as being Republican weighted.”

In my opinion, when you have members of the DTC like the Mirons, Buturla, Ashley Haydu, Heather Habelka, Kent Miller and Dave Mooney, well, there are not many that would admit to being a democrat anymore.

  17. George ~

Who, in all honesty, would you support for mayor the next time around? There doesn’t seem to be one person you feel is 100% qualified.

Also, no disrespect intended, but please don’t say you.

  18. I shouldn’t say 100% qualified – everyone has made mistakes or bad decisions at some point in their life, and the direction taken after those mistakes is what should count towards being qualified or not.

We’re all human and we all make mistakes. Problem is, too many people don’t want to admit that.

  19. 19 1george1

    PCS,

How often do I have to write that I would like to find somebody to support and
that there is a 99 % chance I would drop out of mayoral race after debates?

There are many people, including myself and you PCS, who are qualified to be
Mayor. It is NOT rocket science, although Ben Branyan was on tract to become
a Rocket Scientist until he changed his Major.

I could support Harkins, Moore, Best, Gavin, or many other people EXCEPT
for their SILENCE on things WE ALL KNOW THEY KNOW are WRONG!

People have access to more tools, more information, and better personnel than
any time in History. However, political science is steeped in deceipt of the past.

    Oh, PCS,
despite me being obnoxious, have I or have I not
    admitted mistakes
    corrected mistakes
conceeded point to FOS or JEZE or PCS or others.

At least that is what I am typing and maybe you had not read that…
Or more LIKELY you were simply reflecting in general …
Because unlikely JEZE, I am WELL AWARE the SUN does not revolve
    around me! 8)

Survey results do not reflect the views of the editor.

    It is what it is.

  27. So, according to Sunday’s paper – we’ve got Best (R), Costello (I) and probably Miron (D), with possible interest from Forrester (D), Harkins (R), Moore (R) and Julian (R).

If Harkins wants to run, the Republicans better just put their undying support behind him. He’s Stratford’s only chance!

If it were a Forrester (D) / Harkins (R) ballot, it could be a very tight race. While there are others who do have Stratford’s best interests at heart – these two guys take the cake – hands down.

  28. 28 1george1

Buda has the true best interest at heart, as do I and some others.
She is less qualified than some of the others like Harkins / Gavin.
I have zero doubts about her integrity and her associates.
I would prefer Naders Raiders above Diane, for a few reasons,
including the safety of her and her family.

Harkins is capable and has the image.
However, he is a known associate.

Gavin might be the most capable of any potential candidates.
Gavin is also a known associate of many of the players.
He may not be thrilled with all of them… However …..

However, Gavin is sitting on a mountain of knowledge that would be better
    off Public Knowledge.
But the EXACT same situation is true of Jimmy / Jon / Dom / Tom / Julian
and the rest of the RTC and DTC.

Get them outside of politics, and they are pillars of the Community.
Can you TRUST any of them NOT to become CAPTIVES of their PEERS
    and their PREJUDICES?
And I mean ANY of them ….!!!

PCS – knowing what you know about this town and the players and what you
KNOW they KNOW – how can you support ANY of them?

  29. 29 thegenuinephyllis

George what did you mean in your last posting when you said”
Harkins is capable and has the image.
However, he is a known associate.”>>>What was meant by known associate?
Would appreciate clarification-Thanks in advance xoxTGP

  30. 30 mikereynolds

“I’m surprised he would think about running now, just three months after he was re-elected,” Best said. “It takes a long time to gain the stature he has in Hartford, and if he was going to run for mayor he shouldn’t have run for the House again so we would have had the chance to put someone else up for the seat.”

    Mr. Best,
Up until today I would have voted for you. I have been impressed with some of your blog postings in the past. But you’ve lost my vote regardless if Mr. Harkins runs or not. My advice to you is to shut your mouth, don’t even think about running, and worry about repairing your tattered reputation at Stratford EMS. You, Elvis, and the Moron (the new 3 Stooges) don’t have a shot at beating someone of the caliber of John Harkins.

  31. 31 1george1

Known associate has a connotation in law enforcement.

Maybe I have a different connotation?

Maybe there are people who fit the law enforcement definition
who rub shoulders and occasionally dine with people, who are
in the same circles of certain politicians and / or are known to
    associate with other people.

FBI has looked at people involved in AVCO, whereas a certain attorney
represents one faction and was actively involved hiring the Steno for
the Monti Posillyco presentation to the Feehan Council.

Certain people well known to Harkins at Committee Meetings were
involved with Team Stratford # 1 & # 2, who overlapped with the
    aforesaid presentation.

A certain attorney has a partner, who when in an elected position
hired another Republican potential Mayor, whose campaign manager
has a client who actively has paid Stratford police to do certain work
which is acceptable, yet the site’s ownership has “reputed” owners?

    Maybe # 1 + # 2 + # 3 = 1?

    “HEY… This is STRATFORD.”

    And sometimes I guess wrong.

Sometimes what people in both parties tell me, turns out to be true?

However, I have no dog in the fight, with known associates,

I believe have many more self respect and honor with omerta than
the hypocracy of some, behind the blue wall and court house gang
of the government and other courtesans of the bar association.

  32. 32 jezebel282

    George,

“A certain attorney has a partner, who when in an elected position hired another Republican potential Mayor, whose campaign manager has a client who actively has paid Stratford police to do certain work which is acceptable, yet the site’s ownership has “reputed” owners?”

This paragraph is meaningless. Were they also members of the Trilateral Commission, Masons, Zionists or Opus Dey maybe?

  33. 33 1george1

    Jeze,
Maybe you don’t know the players the way you claim to know the players
and therefore the paragraph is meaningless to you?

I was hoping to get the comment from Mike R.

Guess I have to stock up on Crayons for the Camp PAIN?

    Jeze,
I thought the spelling was opus dei?
    Latin.
You know the dead language, as is: “SPES EST MEA DEUS?”

Jeze, since you asked about those groups, who are the:

    Disciples of the PLANT-AGE-NETS?
    FAGIN Knights?
    NOT-T-ING-HAM-sters?
    PRO-ME-THEUS gen isis?
    PE-GAS-U.S. purveyeurs?
    medUSA rock heads?
    PE-a-nuts?
    kO.P.E.C.hne konnmen or killers?

  34. 34 jezebel282

    George,

    “Jeze,
Maybe you don’t know the players the way you claim to know the players and therefore the paragraph is meaningless to you?”

Actually…I do. But not everyone reading this blog can follow your bouncing ball.

    Update:

    Dom Costello speaks.

Incredibly, this was posted (on purpose) in the CT Post Topix.

Please click on the play button, but first you have to promise not to laugh.

We are trying to verify which funeral home served as the setting.

  36. 36 starlooker

I viewed the video and if you ask me he is speaking a little toooooo late. where was his voice when everything was going on here in this Town. At least Jon Best and Gavin posted on here. then Dems and GOP at it? this is nothing new at all. They have been doing this for years and years and not only in Stratford but all over the US….. If he was serious about running he should of soken up about what was going on in the FD and PD. Speak out about his views on what happened to employees who were let go that worked for the Town. It is a voice of a person who is loud and clear and their opinions that count and make you trust who is running. I do not trust a candidate who is silent…….

  37. 37 1george1

    Costello
1 – Never got involved in the Charter Revision. It is only the Town
    Constitution.

2 – Talks the same old bipartisan pap.

3 – Has not shown original ideas on how to cut taxes and increase services.

  38. 38 1george1

Dom’s Fund Raiser is at Mill River Country Club, Norm’s second home
and where the Republican Town Committee now meets, after moving
from Booth Park. Is he a Stealth Republican?

  39. 39 jezebel282

    George,

    “Is he a Stealth Republican?”

I dunno…he looks more like a mortician to me.

“he looks more like a mortician to me”

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

    That is PERFECT!!!!

I agree that DOM’S delivery is more than a little STIFF. I aint tellin him.

He better watch out or DEAD beat DICKIE may try to sell him a TOMBSTONE.

DOM seemed to avoid the GRAVE ISSUES, which are barely buried.

Many bloggers know something about skeletons in Stratford?

Many bloggers know who are goblin town treasury.

Who will pay? Will Stratford become a Ghost Town?

Or will sins of the Fathers and children come back to Haunt people?

  42. 42 sudds

    “Who will pay?”

To whom and how much do I have to pay for the no-show job at the train station???

  43. 43 jezebel282

    Sudds,

“To whom and how much do I have to pay for the no-show job at the train station???”
    James R. Miron

  44. 44 sudds

But shouldn’t I think long-term and donate to a person who actually has a snowball’s chance in hell at winning???

  45. 45 1george1

If I am lucky, no one (including me) who is presently considered for Mayor,
will be the Mayor elect. I believe THAT is in the best interest of Stratford.

Incidently, I got feedback from outside the blog about Joe Pedoto, who
championed the CT. POST and MIRON.

  46. 46 sudds

    George…

FYI… continuing to say that you are petitioning Ralph Nadar to move to Stratford and run for mayor does NOT help you in any way, shape or form!!!

It is just NOT going to happen… so please move on so that people can stop thinking that you’re a fool!!!

PS… I’m going to start running a tab for your campaign for all of my political advice!!!

  47. 47 jezebel282

    George,

“PS… I’m going to start running a tab for your campaign for all of my political advice!!!”

Might I suggest getting a reference from Eric Booth before you act on Sudds’ advice?

  48. 48 sudds

I had NOTHING to do with Booth’s campaign (which, in hindsite, is probably why he lost) other than the fundraising!!!

I still say that raising over $3,000 via a golf tournament held at the Par 3 with a ‘reception” at the Frog Pond was pretty dang impressive!!! Come on… it was THE FROG POND for crying out loud!!!!

  49. 49 jezebel282

    Sudds,

    Relax.

How is Councilman Booth’s golf game, by the way?

Oh wait! He LOST, didn’t he. Let’s see, who won in that district?

  50. 50 sudds

Don’t blame me… blame his parents… it’s not my fault that he doesn’t have the sex appeal with the voters that Ms. Wanamaker has!!!

What can I say… sex sells!!!

  51. 51 jezebel282

    Sudds,

“What can I say… sex sells!!!”

But Booth STILL lost…..with half of the voters. He’s got to be 1/3 of her size.

  52. 52 sudds

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…

    …DEEP BREATH…

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…

… wiping the tears from my eyes…

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…

    you think Booth is sexy…

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

  53. 53 jezebel282

    Hmmm…

    Booth or Wanamaker?

    That’s my choice?

At least when Booth wears something black he doesn’t look like outer space.

  54. 54 1george1

Who has the better intentions, booth or wanamaker?
I think it is about a draw.

At least they got into the arena to allow themselves to be
hated, mocked, and questioned by everyone.

  55. 55 jezebel282

    George,

“At least they got into the arena to allow themselves to be hated, mocked, and questioned by everyone.”

At least Booth had experience with that. He IS Sudds’ friend, you know.

  56. 56 sudds

Truer words have NEVER been spoken on this blog!!!
