The Beat Goes On

Chief John Buturla

Chief John Buturla

“Walking the beat” has taken on new meaning in Stratford. In this town, cops are beaten when they walk back into the police station. They have more to fear from John Buturla and his little cadre of loyalists than they do from any criminal. The most heinous crime any cop can commit is a negative comment about Mayor Moron or the Chief or a positive comment about any other officer who has been persecuted.

The most recent examples have already been posted, but deserve special mention.

“The IA department in the PD is kept busy investigating serious “Crimes Against Miron”. There are two (count ‘em, 2!) investigations going on at the direction of Chief Buturla. They are investigating a cop who went the wrong way in the PD parking lot to find a space. It should be noted in this case that the subject’s car was legally registered, parked legally and not going 92 MPH. The second case is even more severe. A personal friend of John Buturla’s complained that the neighbor’s sprinkler was getting the fence wet! Why the cop didn’t immediately arrest the perpetrator is beyond belief! The neighbor is still at large and free to get other fences in Town wet!”

And then we have the ongoing saga of the actual arrest of two of Stratford’s finest and most respected officers; Lt. Orlando Soto and Captain Joseph McNeil. What was the arrest for? “Computer crimes”. Never mind that both officers had full and authorized access to the PD network. Never mind that there is no actual evidence that they misused any digital data. The real crime? Both are members of Local 407 with Captain McNeil being the union president. Oh, and being opposed to the hiring of Christian Miron.

Officer O’meara’s case has been documented as well.

Mayor Moron’s policy of “revenge at any cost” has disrupted the police department, destroyed morale, has almost every officer looking for opportunities outside of Stratford and cost the taxpayers of the Town and State tens of thousands of squandered tax dollars.

Enough is enough. We are now calling for Chief Buturla to resign and, failing that, the next mayor to dismiss him for cause.

Did I forget to mention that 83 days after hitting Ms. Cicerale’s car and damaging four others, Justin Loschiavo returns to work today on “light duty”?

83 days at full pay for an accident with no injuries and now “light duty”. It makes Officer O’Meara’s experience even that more disgusting.

    Let’s review again kiddies…

Miron has John Buturla in his pocket,

Harkins has a police officer donating the use of his restaurant for a fundraiser,

Costello was a former police officer,

Does anyone out there actually think that our police department will be able to operate as a proper authority (without input/control by our mayor) over the next 4+ years???

He can’t remain on light duty forever. If they try to pull that there will be thousands of lawsuits against the pd and the town. My 1st question was how did he get to work? Did he drive? Was it registered??? Who is accepting medical responsibility for this guy to be back at work? Must be the mayor and Winterbottom right??

Ms. Ciserale if there was ever a time to file your papers, now is it. Put on your superhero cape and protect the citizens of Stratford-it seems that no one else is left on the Dept. or in town hall that is capable of it.

    Just a couple of points.

Our revised Town Charter puts the mayor in control of the PD (and every other department). It doesn’t matter who gets elected, it is part of the job. The only way to change that is by…well…changing the Charter. Again.

Cops are cops. They are not the most politically astute group in the world. The reality is that Harkins is a personable guy and has a lot of “good will” in this Town. The cops pretty much want anyone but Miron. Unfortunately, “good will” is not a position. They, like the rest of us, have no idea what Harkins would do as mayor.

While Jon Best has commented and taken positions on LBW and the Town Attorney he has not issued any statements about the treatment of the PD rank & file. That’s a bridge he should build.

The guys at the Police Dept can not speak out, if you do, you will be targeted, I know this first hand. Its just like Farmer who was the union president. Shawn was very outspoken about the corrupt ways of how things were being done, like PENSIONS/overtime……….This was reported to the town council but fell on deaf ears…Shawn confronted wrong doing, like Joe Mcneil also…See what happens if you bring up wrong doing, YOU ARE TARGETED….FARMER,MCNEIL,SOTO ARE STAND UP GUYS..THE TRUTH WILL COME OUT…

A fund raiser for Captain McNeil and Lt. Soto will be held on September 12th at 7PM.

It is at 150 Garfield Ave

Family, friends and candidates are welcome.

150 Mayfair looks like private home.
I do not go to private homes….
Put me down for $ 20 donation.
    Is that Captain McNeil’s residence?

Or will there be someone at Town Council meeting
Sept 14 that I can hand $ 20 bill in the open, with
    no brown bag?

“150 Mayfair looks like private home.”

As usual, I have no idea what you are talking about.

  9. 9 1george1

Is 150 Garfield Avenue a private home?

Who can I hand $ 20 to, without making it look like a
I would like an informal reciept.
I do not want to use a check, for paranoid reasons.

My error about 150 Mayfair, as usual, Jeze is correct… 😉

    Are you a neighbor?
    I noted reference to “CAPE.”
I planted “Superman” in Driver’s side of Van for 1 day.
People wander into my intentionally inanities, giving me
    what is called “blow back.”

“Is 150 Garfield Avenue a private home?”

    Union headquarters.

Hand your $20 to a cop there. There will be plenty of them. Will you accept a cheeseburger as a receipt?

    COST may be $ 25 – $ 50 for referral?

I prefer a public place to donate,

This is predicated on historic relationship with certain
political people with certain other people …..

Just because I share dislike about certain people with
many of the bloggers, I have no illusions about ….

  12. 12 jezebel282

My suggestion is that you keep your $20. It sounds like it would cost the union more if they took it.

Everyone else is STILL invited to attend and donate.

  13. 13 1george1

I would like to support the Captain.

However, with the new ETHICS INQUISITION – Jeze may be correct.
It might cause problems for the UNION + those in need + me.

    It might “appear” inappropriate?

I am content knowing that my suggestion was taken and people can be helped!

“I am content knowing that my suggestion was taken and people can be helped!”

What in the world would Local 407 do without you?

  15. 15 1george1

What in the world would Local 407 do without you?

We might see the first million dollar pension?

Why should Rich Burturla get there first?

I wonder what the Stratford Republican and Democratic
Committees gave the Local Police, CT. State Police, FBI,
Senators, Congress, State Reps, and U. S. ARMY JUDGE
    ADVOCATES not to investigate:

I can’t wait for this (coming) evasive wise crack.
