Town Council Approves New Ethics Code that Includes Tough Nepotism Policy
By Richard Weizel

STRATFORD — After months of wrangling, the Town Council on Monday approved a tougher new Ethics Code with a more stringent anti-nepotism policy for elected and town officials.

The council voted 6-3 along party lines in favor of the new code, which was strongly supported by the Ethics Commission.

All three council Democrats — Minority Leader Alvin O’Neal, D-2; Emma Brooks, D-4, and Amy Wanamaker, D-6 — voted against the proposal. Councilman Jack Dempsey, R-5, was not present.

Without any provision for enforcement, this “legislation” is meaningless. It is equivalent to posting signs like “No Running in Hallway”.

Of course, the DTC members of the Council could not miss one of the last opportunities to look like idiots.

Nothing they could do about John Burturla and Chris Miron.

How much will Chris and Justin cost tax payers?

The Ethics Code will not (supposedly) affect departing Town Councilors
with only 3 incumbants running: AMY + JR + DEMPSEY

    Wonder why the others
    1 – ran for office ?
    2 – will not run ?

    This was taken from

“On this day of the Republican primary, it is quite ironic that Jonathan Best is challenging John Harkins, considering what happened at Monday night’s council meeting.
A strong anti-nepostism policy was approved. Best’s wife, Donna, is the EMS chief in Stratford. Best is trying to run for mayor.
Haven’t we had enough nepostism with King James Miron and his father, former Registrar and Democratic Town Committee Chairman Richard Miron?
We don’t need Best coming in to be mayor, with his wife already the EMS chief.
There’s enough reasons not to vote for Best anyway, most of all that he’s in bed with Miron, but here’s yet another one.
A vote for Best is the Worst thing a voter can do today.”

Ed Ward, the Republican Candidate for 6th District Councilman, must be laughing today.

Amy Wanamaker continues to be his best campaign staff.

As people I like the following, but how are they not conflicted?

Tony Ross, getting Fireman retirment pension, son is a Stratford FIRE LT.
Tony running for Town Council in # 9

Sue Collyer running for Town Council in #1 is Assistant Finance Director.

Bonnie Reynolds is wife of Dave Mooney, DTC chair.

Rick Marcone, D – Registrar is running for something.

Lou DeCilio R – Registrar is Harkins campaign manager
(I trust Lou, less than I trust Dick Miron – but do not hate anyone)

JR Stroomer works for # 1 Tax Payer.

I don’t know (yet) a lot about the others, but the ETHICS COMMISSION
should soon be exposed for the JOKE that it is….(Burturla pocket?)
