Message From An Alternate Universe

Could Have Been Mayor (if he ran)

The fun never stops in Miron’s universe:

President George W. Bush had Karl Rove and Dick Cheney. Stratford mayor John A. Harkins has Lou DeCilio and Adam Bauer.

In a recent letter to the editor from DeCilio, the Stratford Republican Party’s version of Karl Rove, Republican registrar of voters and Mayor Harkins’ campaign manager, stated that since I lost the election, I need to “go away.”
Sadly, this is quite typical of the Stratford Republican Party’s arrogance and bullying, where if you have a difference of opinion, you will be subject to relentless attacks and insults.
All American citizens have the First Amendment right to free speech. As a proud United States Army veteran who wore the uniform to protect our constitutional rights (something Mssrs. Harkins, DeCilio and Bauer cannot claim), I intend to exercise my right to free speech as I determine, and not as the Stratford Republican Party dictates.
Frankly, I have no reason to keep talking about the past other than the Harkins team, especially mayoral “Chief of Staff” Adam Bauer, doing his best Dick Cheney impression, keeps bringing it up and distorting it. Personally, I began the process of “moving on” as soon as the election results were announced in November when I called Mr. Harkins, congratulated him and offered to help him in any way.
However, “moving on” and sitting back and allowing people to lie about me, my administration or the good deeds accomplished are two very different things.
I intend to weigh in to set the record straight and to offer an alternative view as the situation warrants. Any citizen is free to do the same and, frankly, we need more citizen participation in Stratford, not less. Nobody needs the Stratford Republican Party’s approval to speak (except perhaps the elected officials in the Stratford Republican Party).

So to set the record straight on the Republican talking points of the Harkins administration:

First, my administration’s fiscal record speaks for itself with an improved bond rating by Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s; three consecutive audited budget surpluses; a tax decrease last year; and no cuts in services — ever.
Second, the contract for Long Beach West was thoroughly vetted and approved by the Republican controlled Town Council after 66 percent of the voters approved it at referendum.
Third, no member of my administration who left town service received anything other than what they were entitled to under their employment agreement.

I guess with the Republican mayor, Republican majority Town Council and Republican majority Board of Education about to raise taxes 3 mills and cut services in Stratford, the Stratford GOP is desperate to talk about anything but what it is doing.

Grateful for the First Amendment, I am…

James R. Miron

Stratford

Thanks, Yoda. Now we remember why we elected Harkins. Keep in touch, sometimes we forget how much you lied.

I just can’t let this one go.

“as soon as the election results were announced in November when I called Mr. Harkins, congratulated him and offered to help him in any way.”

Help? By taking the next month off? How often did you meet with Harkins? Zero times?

Miron / Burturla work with certain Republicans and are desparate
to create illusions, beside the usual delusions.

For the most part of his letter, otherwise, he is correct.

    George,

“For the most part of his letter, otherwise, he is correct.”

    Sigh…OK let’s take a look:

“All American citizens have the First Amendment right to free speech.”
Unless you worked for Miron. If you spoke out you were fired.

“I began the process of “moving on””
Only 11 more steps to go.

“and offered to help him in any way.’
Can’t even argue with this one. It is plainly a lie.

“lie about me, my administration or the good deeds accomplished are two very different things.”
No one has lied about your “good deeds” there were none.

“offer an alternative view as the situation warrants.”
    As alternate as it gets.

“Nobody needs the Stratford Republican Party’s approval to speak”
    Only the Democratic Town Committee?

“First, my administration’s fiscal record speaks for itself”

9% increase, 12% increase and 3% increase. Got it.

    “three consecutive audited budget surpluses;”
All three after increases yet amounting to <1%

"after 66 percent of the voters approved it at referendum."
If only they knew the buyer would set their own price and the $10 million was fictitious.

"Third, no member of my administration who left town service received anything other than what they were entitled to"
And you just had to "fire" them all on your last day?

"I guess with the Republican mayor, Republican majority Town Council and Republican majority Board of Education about to raise taxes 3 mills and cut services in Stratford,"
There's a long way to go before that happens, Jimmy.

So, George, except for all that Mayor Moron's letter was correct?

Got to tell you Jez, Jimmy is more than ready for the white coats to come and take him away….probably to a rehab of some sort, you are completely right that he lives in an alternate universe. He is one sick individual.

All Americans have the right to free speech..unless you are under the gag order issued by jimmy during his first days in office…when he got caught violating free speech, you are correct-he just fired people-or demoted and suspended them.

He began the process of moving on? Really????? He still thinks he’s mayor-of what I have no idea but he really believes that him getting his azz kicked wasn’t his fault-it was the voters fault that didn’t go out to vote. New flash to jimmy: they wouldn’t have voted for jimmy even if they did go out to vote-he can’t break all the democrats arms to doing what you want..people just thought he really sucked at being mayor. The only moving he did before he left was move on from one account to the next to empty them out before he no longer had access and move things from the shredder to the dumpster. Then he took a vacation. Which by the way I believe he has also “cashed out”…isn’t that double dipping?

Interesting that jimmy says that Stratford needs more participation not less….he did everything in his power to lock the public out of participation in government. He has his little complaint and bitch sessions WHEN he decided to show up otherwise “the girls” handled it…..not what I would call participation. He got rid of the citizens that were willing to do the work to put his political bed fellows in place. He is, in my opinion, a pathological liar and has no idea what the truth really is.

I had to laugh at jimmy’s fuzzy math-while he may have gotten a rating change based on the rainy day fund….in no way shape or form did he ever actually balance the budget. If he had, the pension debt would have been factored in to his budgets..he didn’t do that because it would have changed the rating….then he has the audacity to blame council…it was HIS job to write, get approved and follow a budget that was in the best interest of the town. He failed at that miserably. He did however spend a fortune on wool that he tried to use to pull over everyone’s eyes, and when that didn’t work he tried to burn it for the smoke value….I think it was equal in cost to the flowers he planted and paid all the ot to plant..

While the process for LBW may have been “vetted” and specific language and terms approved by the public, jimmy and his attorney pal didn’t do their jobs and finish the process with the proper certifications. Sloppy, sloppy work that the taxpayers paid a fortune for in legal fees. Personally I think we should be entitled to a refund from the former T.A. and jimmy.

If no member of jimmy’s admin left with money they were not entitled to the how is it the town is going after some of the money he dispersed???? Hmmmmmm, yep that’s right, they weren’t entitled to it–and if they dig deeper they will be gettting more back than 56k because jimmy used his vacation time after the election when he was on his self pity and total humiliation bender.

The more jimmy points his fingers crying republican, (even though I though it was impossible) he looks even more foolish that before-and that is one hard act to top…not even Bozo could do it…….

    Phin,

I completely agree. But it is not surprising at all that Miron rejects any and all blame. For his entire life he has always blamed others for his failings. In this letter it happens to be Republicans. It used to be “disgruntled” employees.

It is interesting to note the rambling, accusatory style of the letter. I’m guessing Heather Habelka didn’t proof it this time. Maybe she dumped him?

But let’s remember that Richard Miron, Richard Buturla, Heather Habelka, Kent Miller Jason Santi, et al STILL control the Democratic Town Committee. I think they honestly believe they can win an election someday. It really is getting to the time that this “committee” should be decertified. Slyvia Guberman, bless her soul, was correct then and correct now.

    Phineast,

You are the person who should be blogging as Mayor2013. I wanted you for my CAO – I now want you to run for Mayor in 2013. You are spot-on!

A little history from the alternate universe:

    Tax reduction forecast after revaluation

    Written by John Kovach
    Friday, 30 October 2009 14:23

Finance Director John Norko and Mayor James R. Miron announced Friday that the residential tax burden would be relived once the current revaluation is completed.

Preliminary indications show that the average homeowner would see a reduction of 3.25%, or $185, in their property taxes.

Data released during a press conference in Miron’s office showed that slightly less than 4% of real property taxes would shift to industrial and commercial properties.

The breakdown for fiscal 2010 is 83.26% residential, 16.74% commercial. For fiscal 2011, the forecast is 80.57% residential, 19.43% commercial.

Motor vehicle and personal property taxes were not included in the calculations.

Why not write a letter to the editor?

    File an Ethics Complaint

Call in to Radio or TV

    File a petition for referendum

Contact you District Council or Mayor

Protest during Council or Public Forum?

    Any other suggestions?

  9. 9 jezebel282

Hold your breath until Miron admits he lied?

  10. 10 phineast

    loved those letters today…..

  11. 11 1george1

I love it equally when Miron gets published and when the Republicans
publish. Mayor Harkins is far more polished, which makes it more difficult
for people to see the leaders of both parties working together and they
    create illusions of adversarial.

There are bands of dissidents in both parties and Independents.

However, like the national and state governments, there is an ability to
take control of each faction, and mute the opposition.

THIS IS TOO BAD IT WAS WRITTEN BY JIMMY!

WITH MINOR EDITTING TO ELIMINATE ANY REFERENCE OF MIRON
AND HIS SUPPORTERS, THIS COULD BE WRITTEN BY
Jeze / Rex / certain real Democrats and Republicans / others.

The only exception is Harkins himself, who I think is a mostly nice
guy who really does want good results, yet I believe is a (willing?)
captive of some not good, some bad, and some far worse people?
