Miron campaign event

With less than a month to go until election day, this campaign season is as underwhelming as we have ever seen in Stratford. It is so bad that neither political Town Committee has a functional website. Most voters in Stratford have no idea who’s actually running for anything or why.

Except of course for our old friend James R. Miron. Jimmy is running for State Senator. His opposition is former Town Attorney, Kevin Kelly. “As a former mayor, attorney and business owner Jim Miron’s unique experience makes him the best qualified candidate for State Senate in the 21st State Senate District.” We cannot argue with this. The “experience” was indeed unique. As for “qualified” well….
Incredibly, Miron is touting his record as mayor. Almost any link here will provide a new reader with opinions of Miron’s performance.

Kevin Kelly should walk to victory in this election without breaking a sweat.

There is one other alternative that should be mentioned: a write in vote. There was a candidate for Senate that was unable to obtain RTC backing. In our opinion, he would make the best State Senator in Hartford: Captain Joseph McNeil.

I almost forgot. There was a debate portion of the fund raiser. Ex Mayor Moron came out to debate several non-Miron supporters who were in the same restaurant.

His portion of the debate consisted of “You’re [insert profanity] [insert profane body part]!!!”

    Same old Jimmy. Always classy.

In virtually every election our candidates are from
    Boss Tweed el dumb
    Boss Tweed el dumber
    Boss Tweed el crooked
Boss Tweed el crookeder (I know more crooked)

How independent is the Tea Party
when their convention speaker is palin drone on?

The Mafia has more integrity than the political parties
or federal, state, local law enforcement.

For anyone happening upon this blog who needs a quick overview of Jimmy Miron:

Disgraced ex-mayor of Stratford James R. Miron believes in the rule of lawlessness not the rule of law. Miron is a man of “action” who was doing what was “necessary,” regardless of principles, ethics, morals, and often sanity. Miron, a proponent of “green jobs” and other “Progressive” policies, is unsurprisingly a corporatist who would do whatever was supposedly “pragmatic” (read: unprincipled) to further his and his business supporters interests. Miron values sycophancy over competence, groupthink over independent thought. Mironistas’ echoed the Miron-style, a kind of politics that is arrogantly assertive, even proud, of its own ignorance. And also demagogic.

“My FINAL camapign fundraiser tomorrow. If we raise $3,000 we get an $88,000 public financing grant. Go to http://www.JimMironForSenate.com to help! 8:29 AM Oct 5th via web”

For every $1 Jimmy raises he gets $5.86 of our hard-earned tax dollars. “Clean,” publicly financed elections, another wonderfully “Progressive” idea.

  5. 5 jezebel282

    Portia,

“Disgraced ex-mayor of Stratford James R. Miron believes in the rule of lawlessness not the rule of law.”

Actually, I think you went kind of easy on him. Miron is the furthest thing from “progressive” or “conservative”. Miron’s only interest is Miron and if he can destroy a few dozen people along the way he enjoys it even more. I wouldn’t unfairly burden any political party with him. They have enough trouble. Unless someone has formed the Sociopath Party.

  6. 6 sudds

Finally something we can all agree on…

…Miron should NOT be elected to ANYTHING!!!

  7. 7 jezebel282

    Sudds,

“Miron should NOT be elected to ANYTHING!!!”

    You got that right.

And let’s not forget Kent Miller who wants to be a judge in charge of other people’s money.

  8. 8 1george1

    Do we have an esquirarchy?

    Who guards the guardians?
    Who enforces the Bar Code?

  9. 9 1george1

any more scheduled campaign events for miron or kelly?

is or are there debates scheduled?
    when? where?

I offered to be the moderators / questioner! 😉

  10. 10 sudds

Has anyone (I have not) actually seen a Miron lawn sign???

  11. 11 1george1

Miron had very successful fund raiser at Esq. Proto’s client, ex-Harborside,
last week, from informed sources and has qualified for Matching funds.

Miron could have signs within 1 – 2 weeks, unless prepped sooner?

The more money he spends, the less he has to pay “hired staff?”

The more money he spends, the less he has for “discretionary needs?”

I wonder if he will pay old bills? Or will they be deadbeatened too?

    Unless a scandal breaks …….
Kelly might win with 90 % of the vote. And he is no different than Jimmy,
except more personable…. ONE BIG CIRCUS TENT PARTY!!
Bin Laden, so far, has a better chance than Jimmy.

  12. 12 phineast

Well, if he gets the state money that will keep his daddy out of jail, and him supplied with ….(cough/choke) beer for at least a week. I cannot believe that there are still people that are not just foolish but STUPID enough to give him their money. Shocking. They really are fools…good ole’ Jimmy didn’t even show up for his bought and paid for booth at Shelton Day–guess the folks of Shelton don’t vote or don’t matter…hmmmmmmmmm…He doesn’t stand a chance with the Shelton voters…doesn’t matter where he is shacking up, he just doesn’t stand a chance.

  13. 13 1george1

What s the possibility that everything was a canard to create
plausilble deniability of certain Stratford people to work with
certain Bridgeport, Milford, and other people to dealy everything,
bribing everyone, and steering / stealing everything to themselves?

    Jez,

Are these the kind of Stratford Democrats supporting Mr. Miron?

    Shame,shame shame.

  17. 17 ronmoreau

…and you thought your job was done.

  18. 18 mayor2013

Speaking of write-offs, I just heard that Adam Bauer will be leaving John. Oh my, now John, in addition to telling every single caller and every single visitor how much he hates being mayor will probably be pounding his head on the desk. It is no secret that Bauer was doing all the work. John is not exactly what you would call a “workaholic.” As for Bauer, I tried to tell him, this was not the place for him – I’m glad he finally “got my message.”

Well, you all, there will be a job “Chief of Staff” not in the Charter, but it will be filled by someone – so start lining up. Just remember, you will never be there long enough to collect a “longevity” check. I promise!

  19. 19 jezebel282

    Ron,

“Are these the kind of Stratford Democrats supporting Mr. Miron?”

    It is sad but true.

  20. 20 adambauer

    Mayor2013,

There is so much that is just completely inaccurate in your last post I’m not even going to try and rectify all of it- largely because I know that you don’t actually want the correct information. However, I want to clarify one thing.

You and I have NEVER had a conversation about whether or not this job would be my cup of tea. The only people who would venture to make that judgement are people close to me- and nobody close or to me or who knows anything about my likes, dislikes, and professional desires takes uninformed and factually inaccurate pot-shots at other individuals like Mayor Harkins. I adore this job, every single minute of it.

As to my position- aides to the Mayor are not listed in the charter, nor are they required to be. I am not a department head- I am an aide to the Mayor. I do not overrule or usurp any authority from any charter defined department head. Most of the jobs in town government are not listed in the charter. I’ve been there already on this blog- but I know it’s just more fun for you to ignore it.

I can assure you that I do not “do all the work”. No decision is made without the Mayor’s sign off, and most days he’s at the office later than I am- and that’s not including the nights and weekends where he has events, meetings, etc. I’m simply an aide with a title that was used for organizational purposes.

    -Adam

  21. 21 jezebel282

    2013, Adam,

It is absolutely accurate that Adam Bauer is leaving. He was hired away and will be leaving the State entirely.

“I’m simply an aide with a title that was used for organizational purposes.”

Err….now Adam, everyone has a title of some sort. For example, people call me all sorts of things. For organizational purposes “Chief of Staff” is pretty high up there in the organization, don’t you think?

A “mayoral aide” is someone like Eric Castater, Heather Habelka or Kent Miller. Give yourself some credit.

  22. 22 jezebel282

    Lest we forget:

Then there is Kent Miller running for Probate Judge against Judge Kurmay.

You remember Kent Miller (aside from being Miron’s BFF) don’t you?

    STATEWIDE GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE
Yvonne M. Riccio, Complainant vs. Kent M. Miller, Respondent
    Grievance Complaint #05-0708

    DECISION
Pursuant to Practice Book §2-35, the undersigned, duly-appointed reviewing committee of the Statewide Grievance Committee conducted a hearing at the Superior Court, 235 Church Street,

New Haven, Connecticut on December 7, 2005. The hearing addressed the record of the complaint filed on July 27, 2005, and the probable cause determination filed by the Fairfield Judicial District Grievance Panel on October 4, 2005, finding that there existed probable cause that the Respondent violated Rule 1.5(b) of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
Notice of the hearing was mailed to the Complainant, to the Respondent and to the Office of the Chief Disciplinary Counsel on November 3, 2005. Pursuant to Practice Book §2-35(d), Assistant Disciplinary Counsel Frank Blando pursued the matter before this reviewing committee.
The Complainant and the Respondent appeared and testified. An exhibit was received into evidence.
This reviewing committee makes the following findings of fact by clear and convincing evidence:

In August of 2004, the Complainant retained the Respondent to represent her in a personal bankruptcy. The Complainant paid the Respondent $1,000 for the representation. The Respondent provided the Complainant with a receipt dated August 13, 2004 which stated “Received as full payment for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, not including court costs of $209.00.”
There was no other writing communicating the terms of the representation to the Complainant.

This reviewing committee also considered the following:

The Respondent admitted that he did not provide the Complainant with a written fee agreement. The Respondent attended a continuing legal education seminar in professional practice on December 1, 2005. The Respondent is willing to attend an additional continuing legal education seminar in law office management. The Respondent represented that he will provide clients with written fee agreements in the future.
This reviewing committee finds the following violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct by clear and convincing evidence:
The Respondent’s failure to communicate to the Complainant, in writing, the basis or rate of his fee, whether and to what extent the client would be responsible for any expenses of litigation, and the scope of the matter to be undertaken, constituted a violation of Rule 1.5(b) of the Rules of Professional Conduct.

Accordingly, this reviewing committee orders, pursuant to Practice Book §2-37(a)(5), that the Respondent attend a continuing legal education course in the area of law office management, in-person and at his own expense. The course must consist of a minimum of three (3) credit hours and must be completed within six (6) months of the issuance of this decision. The Respondent is further ordered to provide the Statewide Grievance Committee with written confirmation of his compliance with this condition within thirty (30) days of completion of the continuing legal education course.

Election time is no time for complacency, even if it appears to be a cake walk to the win.
Got to watch those write in votes very carefully-seems to me I recall there was a PROBLEM with the write in votes that caused a stir and disiplinary action or something a while back kindness of Jimmy boy and his daddy, isn’t that correct?
    Maybe George will remember….

  24. 24 phineast

    Adam-
Good luck in your new position. Stratford will miss you, you did a great job. Thanks.

  25. 25 jezebel282

    Phin,

“seems to me I recall there was a PROBLEM with the write in votes that caused a stir and disiplinary action or something a while back kindness of Jimmy boy and his daddy, isn’t that correct?”

Good memory. You must be nearly as old as me. It was about absentee ballots actually. In a desperate attempt to steal an election, the Mirons questioned the authenticity of the submitted absentee ballots. To “prove” their point, Jimmy subpoenaed sixty seven (count ’em, 67!) disabled senior citizens to court. Can you imagine the heartlessness? Not only were these poor people unable to make it to the voting booth because of their age and disabilities, now they had to somehow make it to a courtroom to testify that they voted correctly.

One could only imagine the courtroom hallways filled with walkers, wheelchairs, portable oxygen tanks, canes……

Even the judge in the case was outraged and dismissed the subpoenas and scolded Jimmy for the tactic.

It is hard to imagine how any senior citizen in this town could vote for Miron.

  26. 26 sudds

    Adam,

Best of luck in your new position (wherever/whatever it may be)!!!

Please note that my (shall we say) “stress” was actually directed at our Mayor’s lack of leadership, and NOT you. You actually did a better job than you should have been asked to do.

    Again, best of luck!!!

  27. 27 ronmoreau

    The Miron ZOMBIE said,

“You are so full of rage … that you are willing to endorse a criminal for elected office….” ie: (Captain McNeil)

What ever happened to ‘Innocent until proven guilty’?

I pray to God that this person…

…Is not a leader in the Stratford Democratic Party.

…Has NEVER held and never holds an elected position in Stratford.

…Has never and never will be called to jury duty.

  28. 28 ronmoreau

    Mr. Bauer,

At least you’ve got the guts to respond, in a profesional manner,on this blog. Unlike 99% of the elected and appointed officials that are suppost to represent us in Stratford.

I wish you well in your future endevors.

  29. 29 jezebel282

    Ron,

I am not sure where that Mironista quote came from but I can say this:

Captain McNeil has served this country and town truly and well. He is and remains innocent until proven guilty. That said, he is a man of high moral character, compassion for others and dedication to service. I did not suggest a write in campaign for Captain McNeil lightly.

Of all the candidates who have come before us in the past twenty years, I can say with certain conviction that Captain McNeil has the most integrity, foresight and intelligence to represent us in Hartford….or anywhere.

  30. 30 jezebel282

The word is that Adam Bauer’s replacement is Erin Holroyd (Fairfield County Weekly).

    Chief of Staff? Really?

  31. 31 ronmoreau

    Jez,

The following from the Stratford police union website. Who are the gready ones here? The Police administration or the rank and file? Again the Stratford taxpayers will pay and the rank and file will suffer with little or no pay increase while a select few will walk away with pensions at Double or more of their base pay.

” There has been much focus on the police pensions. How does a police officer retire on $134,000 a year for life and how does he accumulate such massive overtime? Why was the Chief of Police not held to account for this? When this individual had overtime of $25,000, were any questions asked by the Chief of police? How about $50,000-$75,000-$100,000-$125,000 in Town overtime were any questions asked? No, not one question. When an individual makes $125,000 of Town overtime in a 12 month period, the rules are not being followed. The Stratford Police Union asked many questions. The Union even filed several grievances to stop the violations of the contract and Stratford Police Policies. The Chief response to all this? Nothing. This was and will be the largest pension ever paid out by the Town of Stratford. There are many questions on how this was achieved and who approved the overtime. The contract is clear that all overtime for a Captain must be approved by the Chief or Deputy Chief. Can they say they did not know? A Captain in patrol does not have flex hours. How did this person flex their hours multiple times so he could collect overtime? How does this benefit the Town? The Stratford Police Policy states no officer will work more than 16 hours in a 24 hour period. This Patrol Captain was allowed to violate the policy multiple times. Why did the former Stratford Police Deputy Chief intervene when I requested training records from Bridgeport Police Training Division and order the Lieutenant in Bridgeport not to release records to anyone without his authority? I received the records and it showed that the Captain took the same class multiple times on an overtime basis.”

“I went to the Chief of police to express my concerns. His response “What are you going to do with it?” The Chief must be a good steward of his budgeted funds. His failure to act created the $134,000 yearly pension. Contracts are negotiated to protect both employee and employer. The Stratford Police Union made every effort to have the abuses stopped, but we were ignored by the Chief. ”

“A manager at any private industry corporation who allowed this type of flagrant disregard for company policy and contracts would have a serious problem. The Chief of police needs to be held accountable for allowing the highest pension in Stratford’s history. ”

    J. McNeil
    President
    Stratford Police Union
    Local 407

  32. 32 jezebel282

    Ron,

The grievances filed by Local 407 about pension abuse have been around for quite some time. Led by Captain McNeil and Shawn Farmer before him.

The connection between the arrests of Captain McNeil, Farmer and Soto and McNeil’s and Soto’s suspension without pay for 16 months and the way Buturla “manages” the Department is so obvious there are no words for it.

  33. 33 ronmoreau

    Jez,

It appears that Captian McNeil (even though he has been in suspension limbo for over 1.5 years) is not only looking out for his union brothers and sisters but is looking out for Stratford residents and taxpayers as well.

  34. 34 jezebel282

    Ron,

“is looking out for Stratford residents and taxpayers as well.”

    He always has.

That is why I am endorsing him as a write-in candidate for State Senate rather than Kelly or (gag) Miron.

Kelly will win, but in good conscience I must vote for McNeil.

  35. 35 ronmoreau

    Jez,

I’m sure Mr. Miron would love to see a large voting block for Captian McNeil again splitting the vote in his favor. Splitting the vote seems to be the only way he can get elected. Mr. Kelly, in my eyes, is the better choice. Captain McNeil, although a good choice, has much to do,for the benefit of the rank and file and Stratford residents.

  36. 36 jezebel282

    George,

“While dick and jim are not world class intellectuals, they do know
politics and some of the stuff they and their family ran into …. ????”

They are not even good at politics. Mayor Moron squeaked in by 4>% of the vote the first time after it was split by Dom and Jon. The second time he was soundly and thoroughly trounced. And that was by a guy who didn’t even want to be mayor.

What they are good at is bullying, intimidation, threatening and stealing.

  37. 37 1george1

I got the Miron Mailer, questioning Kevin Kelly “not a politician.”

    1 – RTC MEMBER 25 Years = Likely True?

2 – Lost 1992 State Rep election = Likely True?

Pretty damaging to the Kelly claim of not a politician.

Not a single positive thing about Jim Miron.
But it does have a link to his Website

  38. 38 jezebel282

    George,

“Not a single positive thing about Jim Miron.”

Is there one? Like firing his friends on his last day so they can collect $250,000 in cash outs?

We already know that Miron can’t be trusted.

Did you happen to notice in Moron’s Mailer about Kelly that he failed to

    Jeze,
I “happened” to have mentioned that Mayor Miron approved over $ 500,000
payments to Kelly in his 4 years in a STAR Letter to the EDITOR about 5 weeks
ago. I can’t figure how they are working for different people, that harm us?

So, Jeze, we again agree on some things….

  43. 43 jezebel282

    George,

“I got the Miron Mailer, questioning Kevin Kelly “not a politician.””

And they just keep coming. I figure to get at least 4 more before the polls mercifully close on Tuesday.

    “1 – RTC MEMBER 25 Years = Likely True?
2 – Lost 1992 State Rep election = Likely True?
    3 – Chair for a P A C fined by SEEC = If True – interesting
4 – Kelly / Law firm made millions from political connections =
Likely True, yet Burturla’s firm made 10s of Millions.
5 – As Town Attorney made more money than combined
    Manager / Mayor = $ 90 k
    Police + Fire chiefs = $ 200 k
    School Super = $ 200 k
    Likely true as Kelly + Burturla made over $ 500 k when T. A.,
    if I remember, correctly.”

All of the above is true. But it was never a secret (like Miron claims) anyway. Anyone who goes to Kelly’s website http://www.kellyforstatesenate.com/ would have found it all.

I remember the DTC screaming their heads off when Kelly was appointed Town Attorney. They claimed he didn’t have “experience”. People like Dick Miron and Rich Buturla.

I did watch the “debate” posted on Miron’s site. I think Kelly won it. I have no idea why Mayor Moron would post a link to that. He comes off petulant, abrasive and aggressive. At times he is totally contradictory. He claims to have made the unions mad by holding them to zero increases. That is just not true. Retroactive increases are still increases. Firing nearly every member of a union including the president and vice president was not a necessity. It was just something he wanted to do.

And then he has the gall to try to justify firing all of his administrators and aides on his last day and stealing $240,000 of our money, claiming it was “legal” and “justified”.

Miron needs to be written off for good.

  44. 44 1george1

    Jeze,

We have very, very different perceptions.
That is good. That is healthy.

1 – I remember the DTC screaming their heads off when Kelly was
appointed Town Attorney. They claimed he didn’t have “experience”.
People like Dick Miron and Rich Buturla.

Counterpoint: I was at the Town Council Meeting Kronenberg and Zalik
were joining the Democrats blocking Kevin Kelly’s appointment.
I was present and watching CT. STATE TROOPER Schirillo stomping around
and called for a couple of breaks in the MEETING to get changes in the
VOTE to get KEVIN KELLY appointed!

Schirillo absolutely was twisting arms and making deals for KELLY to be
appointed! I was there. I spoke to Councilors and people who saw and
overheard what happened. I spoke to party people!

The same Kevin Kelly who worked for Blumenthal as an INVESTIGATOR!

“People like Dick Miron and Rich Buturla” were “screaming their heads off”
“at the DTC claimed he didn’t have “experience”.”

As far as the next part – I thought Miron absolutely destroyed KELLY in
the Debate …. completely and totally.

Who doesn’t know that Jimmy lies?

Who doesn’t know what happened in Jimmy’s Administration?

Jimmy has less of a chance of winning the election than I did as Mayor!!!

Jimmy exposed Kevin Kelly for what Kevin is and what Kevin is NOT!!!
When Kevin, Bishop, Harkins, and Florek get finished selling out Stratford
to Bridgeport and the Feds, while likely improving Stratford’s economics,
at the cost of the ambiance, Jimmy has established plausible denyability
and separation from the deals he and his adoptive Father did to the people
of this town, for the party ……

In the Mayoral Debates, I took apart Jimmy, where Dominick’s role was to
make Harkins look like the best choice.

The parties already had it set up where Jimmy had won by default because
the Republicans divided the vote, and NO ONE wanted JIM to WIN!

DOM + I, as Independents were positioned that we could not work with the
    Town Council, if elected Mayor.

I made no secret, I would have bowed out after the debates, if any decent
candidate had emerged or ran for Mayor.

Dom has some good characteristics, but he is not a good Public Speaker.

It goes against Harkins personality to be publicly confrontational!
John is excellent at saying nothing, and looking nice or good doing so.

    FROM JEZE:
I did watch the “debate” posted on Miron’s site. I think Kelly won it.

    (JEZE would not give MIRON credit for A N Y T H I N G under A N Y
    circumstances!)

I have no idea why Mayor Moron would post a link to that.

    (see above)

He comes off petulant, abrasive and aggressive.

(Yes, but he KICKED KELLY’S ASS. KELLY will still win the election)

At times he is totally contradictory.

    (NEEDS DENIABILITY)

He claims to have made the unions mad by holding them to zero increases.
That is just not true. Retroactive increases are still increases.

(HERE JEZE and I AGREE, for some different reasons)
    Under Miron:
    Jan 2006 – July 2009 > pension obligations up 42% = 43 months.
Teachers and all workers still get STEP INCREASES in PAY.
HSA which is TAX DEDUCTABLE, for Teachers, paid deductable = pay raise.
Police + Fire + PW + others got CASH OUT and many pensions near Base
    Police + Fire + PW + others HEALTH BENEFIT $ 16,400 by taxpayer / they $2,400
Police + Fire + PW + others ANNUITIES
    Police + Fire + PW + others 401
Certain Police + Fire + PW + others consulting Jobs or Jobs elsewhere.

“Firing nearly every member of a union including the president and
vice president was not a necessity.
It was just something he wanted to do.”

    AGAIN PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY.
In some cases it was pure meanness and spite, likely from the old man.
In some cases, it was pure politics to put in “controlled cast” willing to
do whatever they were told to do.

“And then he has the gall to try to justify firing all of his administrators
and aides on his last day and stealing $240,000 of our money, claiming
    it was “legal” and “justified”.”

Remember those headlines of how Harkins and Bishop were not going to
let them get away with the $ 240,000?

JEZE what aren’t you equally indignant about the $ 440,000 stolen for two
NON CUSTOM FIRE TRUCKS which BID at $ 230,000 fully equipped?
    $ 230 k x 2 = $ 460,000

    The BID under HENRICK-
$ 570,000 FULLY EQUIPPED Customed Fire Truck
$ 230,000 FULLY EQUIPPED non Customed Fire Truck

    Your FIRE DEPT friends L I E D and helped D E F R A U D the PUBLIC.

Tom Murray had the decency to tell me he honestly did NOT KNOW
that SMEAL does NOT sell DIRECT, but through their DISTRIBUTORS.

Everyone knows who got about $ 860,000 of the order for the two
non CUSTOMER FIRE TRUCKS that should have cost $ 460,000.

And yet, I would have to protect MAFIA’s relatives, against scum bag
FBI – JUSTICE, if there were ever an attempted indictment!!!

Jeze, Jeze, Jeze – Y O U of all people!

You have never seen ‘RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION” feigned by a LAWYER or
POLITICIAN or a “Miron and Burturla?”

Is Stratford Mayor John Harkins a replacement for James Miron
    or just a genteel version?

Mirons Town Attorneys: Richard Burturla (Berchem/Moses/Devlin),
Kevin Kelly (Kelly/Bishop/Jackson) and John Florek (O’Neill)
Harkins: Town Attorneys Tim Bishop (Kelly/Bishop/Jackson) John
Florek (O’Neill), and Richard Burturla (Berchem/Moses/Devlin).

    Miron + Harkins: Police Chief John Burturla (brother of Richard);
    Fire Chief James Cavanaugh; Public Works Maurice McCarthy;
Town Clerk Susan Pawluk; Finance Susan Collier.

Under Mayor Miron in 4 years:
Kevin Kelly’s firm was paid over $500,000 and Burturla’s firm was paid
over $2 million, as part of $5 million fees.
    1998 total attorney fees $222,000

Defined Benefit Pension Obligation increased 42% in 43 months.
    Gavin’s 6 years of Town Council added $ 6.115 million of the $ 17.4
    million or incease of 54%

  46. 46 1george1

Using $ 17.4 Million as July 2009 Pension obligation

    $ 5,145,254 increase in 43 months or 42 % increase
    $ 6,115,080 increase in 67 months or 54 %’ increase
    $ 8,807,272 increase in 91 months or 101 % increase
    $ 12,151,510 increase in 139 months or 231.5 % increase

    12 years 2009 – 12 = 1997 hmmmm?

Hey sudds, it looks someone is having a few drinks on you!

  47. 47 phineast

Just wait until all the retirements are announced in January…..the PD will be down an entire shift of manpower-so add the OT to the cost of training to the cost of the pensions…..I double dog dare you to ask them WHY they are retiring.

  48. 48 jezebel282

    Phin,

“Just wait until all the retirements are announced in January”

Isn’t that part of “Restore the Pride”, “Restore the Integrity”? That was the slogan for the Republican Town Committee wasn’t it? Aren’t they the ones who control the Council and the mayor’s office?

    Are you feeling it yet?

  49. 49 phineast

actually……..this particular position is protected by state law. You know that. It is very difficult to get around it-everything has to be iron clad, well investigated and documented. As you know the investigative abilities are very limited for 2 reasons…one is because of who controls them and 2 because those that are to perform them no longer give a sh*t because they are leaving…. IF the republican TC was “smart” they would be pressuring the admin to have a full investigation and get it done-that is a tall order and a big if….but it would put things to rest one way or the other once and for all as long it was a legit investigation and not done “miron” style.

  50. 50 jezebel282

    Phin,

Did you just agree with me?

“this particular position is protected by state law. You know that. ”
Did I say “fire the SOB”? I think I was saying the the Chief Executive of the Town does not have control of the situation and it is extremely doubtful that he wants it.

We are hemorrhaging tax revenue in overtime payments in every department. The FD is short staffed (and it’s about to get shorter), Dispatch is short staffed, the PD is doling out overtime like there’s no tomorrow, EMS volunteers are being converted to per diem employees on every shift and the very people responsible for the gross mismanagement of EMS are screaming that incompetence should be rewarded.

And I haven’t even mentioned the $9 million we just put on the Town credit card or the legal fees pouring out of the Town spigot.

No wonder Miron wants to run for mayor again.

  51. 51 jezebel282

    Oh…and it hasn’t snowed yet.

    – Are Dick and John Burturla brothers?
    – Are Dick and Jim (adopted) father & son?

    – Was Lieberman the AG predicessor and Blumenthal’s mentor?
    – Was Lieberman the Senate Fatherland Security Head when John

    – Was former Stratford Police Joe Harry CT assist state Attorney?

Are certain Law Firms, Developers, Finance, and Real Estate people
involve in STEAL (Steel) POINT and POINT WEST?

Will pending Retirements BREAK the DEFINED BENEFIT PLAN and force
an investigation? (screwing not just the abusers – while causers PYA)

It allows going past Statute of limitations, due to ongoing abuses.

    LBW screwed up – done!
Airport land transfer – partially done.
    Moses Wheeler bridge – started
    AVCO – PENDING BID
    Shakespeare – looks real

    TIME TABLE ….. drum roll

  53. 53 missgreeneyes118

With all the overtime being paid out – looks like there will be a lot of retirements this January.
That will lead to even more overtime next year which will lead to even more retirements in January 2012.
Then the town council and administration will act all suprised – again. Then the fingerpointing will start – again.
Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
Will November 2013 be able to save us?
We need a Wall Street style bailout and a Town Council enema

  54. 54 jezebel282

    Greeneyes,

    If you give a mouse a cookie…..

  55. 55 1george1

“We need a Wall Street style bailout and a Town Council enema.”

This Town Council isn’t even close to being the worst Town Council

Frustrating that Malloy and Gavin are smarter than most of past and
at least as smart as many town attorneys and managers/mayors.

Take your pick? Maybe a POLL.
    09-11 Malloy
    07-09 Henrick
    05-07 Feehan
    03-05 Crudo
    01-03 Calzone
    99-01 Cabrol / Koperwhats
    97-99 Debbie Rose
    95-97
    93-95
    91-93
    89-91
    87-89 Dick Burturla

    I got involved in 1998.
I know more about the town since that time than most.
I also know some of the key situations and of players prior to 1998.

The whole country needs a political enema.

DeStephano, another son of police, was quote on TV that New Haven
faces 4 choices (which I can see for Stratford / Bridgeport)

1 – Cut jobs and services
    2 – Raise Taxes
3 – Raise Taxes and cut jobs and services
4 – Take over by the state

What I can also see for Stratford?

Dan Malloy’s cousin Tom head Stratford Town Council with AVCO and
SHAKESPEARE over due. Both are highly intelligent.

Dan Malloy former Stamford CAO and COO Ben Barnes, lives in Stratford
and was on Stratford FAC. Barnes had more and more diverse experience
than Ben Branyan, who was studying to become a rocket scientist before
he turned to the municipal thing. EXCEPTIONALLY INTELLIGENT.
    > Barnes worked for BRIDGEPORT BoE for maybe 1 year, giving him insight
into all of the City Players, because BoE is bigger job than any of City and
controls more JOBS / MONEY / ACCESS.
    > Now Barnes is Dan Malloy’s RIGHT HAND MAN.
    > Ben Branyan was Town Manager and then BoE COO and now Greenwich
where the BIGGEST MONEY and MOST POWER in the STATE EXISTS
    – Bush
    – Weicker
    – McMahon
    – Blumenthal
    – HEDGE FUNDS

I have NO DOUBT the TIME TABLE is in PLAY.

Simmering on the record books is the State of CT LAW to eliminate
PENSIONS due to CORRUPTION, so HARTFORD, GREENWICH, NYC + D.C.
has UNIONS / LAWYERS / TOWN COMMITTEES by SHORT HAIRS to do
    what ever they want done.

So far everything is working like a FABIAN SOCIETY MILITARY OPERATION,
    /\ CLOCK WORK ORANGE?

Meanwhile they have driven down property values in Bridgeport and
Stratford, while raising Taxes unconscienably, poisoned the land, water,
and air, while driving out businesses like:
    RAYMARK – AVCO – DIANON – MOBILE – DICTAPHONE – BARGAIN NEWS –
TILO – CONTRACT PLATING – COKE – AMERICAN FROZEN FOOD –
TOWN FAIR / Grocery / Merchandise / Bowling – more

Besides cutting jobs at Sikorsky – Dresser/Ashcroft – most places

    ===============================================================

    I get mail / email / articles / calls / conversations about a movement
to cut off the STATES and MUNICIPALS …..

    —–

A member of the UNIONS told me that if they get the politicians out
of the PENSIONS and let the unions fight among themselves, they would
have much lower pensions, cash outs, benefits and more, which would
make the unions having closer to a solvent plant.
This guy knows the UNIONS are being set up to take the fall and that
the more abuses there are, the more the ramifications will be,

My experience with union people is while we are not brilliant, we have
normally an above average intelligence, in part from training and the
various communications, and because we/they benefit from the system
    we are extremely patriotic.
However, people are greedy and shortsighted.
Some of the union people, especially older retirees are discusted with
the raping of the Treasury, while people are losing their homes.

    > Meanwhile a smalleer number of people are making very big money by
kiting contracts and getting finders fees / kick backs / steered business,
IF, IF, IF what I have been told is true?
    > Smart union people have better records than certain other people.

If it hits the fan ……there will be much discusses behind closed doors…

THERE IS NO WAY THINGS CAN CONTINUE … NO WAY….

Then it becomes SOME AGAINST THE OTHERS

Are the last ones in going to “SETTLE” for $ 20,000 range annual pensions,
which is all any Stratford retirees deserve based on Defined contribution?

    Maybe they have to settle for $ 15,000, because the others G L O M M E D
    ANNUAL PENSIONS, + CASH OUTS + ANNUITY + 401 + CONSULTING + HEALTH
BENEFIT costs where Tax Payers pay 400 % more than what they would pay,
if they had any HEALTH CARE.

——————————– GREEN EYES saying the same thing —————

With all the overtime being paid out – looks like there will be a lot of retirements this January.
That will lead to even more overtime next year which will lead to even more retirements in January 2012.
Then the town council and administration will act all suprised – again.
Then the fingerpointing will start – again.

(Then the infighting will evenutally happen – States’ evidence = get outta Jail
free card and (I believe) you can BET the MIRONS / BURTURLAS / Attorneys
/ bUTTERNUTS will throw everyone to the wolves ….)

    ——————————– GREEN EYES = SANTAYANA —————————-

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
