The Least Worst

21Oct10

It’s that time again. We are again confronted by the least worst choices that will govern us for at least another two years. Please take a moment to visit http://www.townofstratford.com/content/1302/402/631/default.aspx#sample and closely examine your choices in your particular district. As usual, listed below are the editor’s picks: * denotes winner Judge of Probate: Paul Kurmay* […]

With less than a month to go until election day, this campaign season is as underwhelming as we have ever seen in Stratford. It is so bad that neither political Town Committee has a functional website. Most voters in Stratford have no idea who’s actually running for anything or why.

Former Police Officer Justin LoSchiavo, who crashed his patrol cruiser into four cars while having a seizure last June 6, misled the town on “at least seven instances” in which he failed to disclose “key medical information to the reviewing doctor, told half-truths or was intentionally unthruthful,” all in an effort to return to work and continue as a patrolman with the Stratford police department.

Documents and audiotapes obtained by the Connecticut Post through the state’s Freedom of Information Act show Stratford officials knew that police Officer Justin LoSchiavo had a history of seizures years before he crashed his cruiser into four cars last June.

Nearly two years ago (CONNECTICUT STATE OF v. LAKEVIEW MONUMENT CO ET AL File Date: 04/14/2008) AG Blumenthal finally filed a civil case against Richard Miron. Although civil cases require only “a preponderance of evidence” as opposed to “beyond a reasonable doubt” Mr. Blumenthal decided to let the criminal case against Richard Miron (the Democratic Registrar of Voters and Stratford Democratic Town Committee member) take precedence. Neither case has been to trial. We do not think it was a “procedural” decision.

Is EMS Best?

22Dec09

Are we (yet again) facing another Administrator that thinks that being Chief is more important than protecting our lives? There seems to be much evidence of that recently and we will explore these issues in depth in this article and welcome comments. Let us first state that Stratford EMS Services save lives. Day in and […]

STRATFORD — Former Democratic Mayor James R. Miron and five of his top administrators and staff assistants departed with a total of $240,000 in sick and vacation cash-out benefits — including two aides employed for only six months who received $20,000 each, the new mayor, John Harkins, and his administration discovered during its first two days in Town Hall.

We honestly cannot think of a single person in the 350 years of Sratford history that has single-handedly done more to damage Stratford, it’s taxpayers and its reputation than James R. Miron.
